Cass Lake Chamber of Commerce Office

The Cass Lake Area Chamber of Commerce office is located in the new Minnesota Welcome Center of the Cass Lake Area, off Highway 2 along the shorelines of Cass Lake. The building opened in April of 2007 as a safety rest area and visitor center, which is a culmination of years of planning and cooperation among several area and state groups. The visitors desk is maintained by the City of Cass Lake through numerous area volunteers. Whether your looking for information, a beautiful view, or just to stretch your legs, stop in and see what the Chamber and the Area has to offer!

Welcome
Thank you for your interest in the beautiful Cass Lake area, with the most pristine lakes and forest habitats of our state and nation. We have many activities to offer throughout all four seasons. The Cass Lake Chamber of Commerce wants to make your trip here a life-long memory!

Our area offers something for everyone, with it’s abundance of lakes, rivers, natural resources, culture, recreational activities, and the Chippewa National Forest, that brings people back for generations.

Spring is the perfect time of year to see new life form after the winter freeze and view the nesting Bald Eagles. The area forests is one of the largest eagle breeding population areas in the lower 48 states.

Fishing opener kicks off in May. With nine lakes on the Cass Lake Chain, and Lake Winnie, Leech Lake, and the many surrounding lakes, we have some of the best fishing for Walleye, Northern Pike, Muskie, Bass, Perch, and pan fish. Whether you’re after a fish dinner or a trophy for your wall, we have it all.

Cass Lake Area offers great biking and hiking on the many trails along with a variety of bird watching and sightseeing. With 243 species of birds that call our area home, such as Bald Eagles, Pileated Woodpeckers, Loons, Hawks, and songbirds, our area is a sight to behold. A perfect opportunity to view them is touring our Mi-Gi-Zi Trail, which opened in 2003 with 19 miles of paved trail looped through our forests and circling around Pike Bay.

Many people come here to canoe and kayak the numerous local rivers and lakes. The “headwaters” of the Mississippi River is the third longest river in the world, and only a 45-minute drive away. It is one of those sites you must see!

For all you golfers, we have many courses, along with restaurants, and shopping to fill
your days with great gifts and memories to take home.

Speaking of memories…Don’t miss our Annual Cass Lake Rib Fest held the third weekend in July. It’s a time to enjoy the great outdoors and eat some excellent food. Over the years, we’ve had ribs from Famous Dave’s and Rudolf ’s BBQ, in addition, to our many other local vendors. Be sure to stop and check out the many activities, such as, live music, parade, motorcycle show, Native Dancers, crafts, many kids activities, and so much more. Please visit www.casslake.com for more information about this great festival.

For an activity for those that like risks or just up for a little fun, we are proud to have three casinos on the Leech Lake Reservation. The Band also provides many cultural activities, such as Pow-Wows, craft fairs, and musical events.

Be sure to tour our Cass Lake Museum and Lyle’s Logging Camp! Our local tributes to our past that reflect the logging days when the first settlers arrived in the area.

Fall brings great hunting opportunities, brilliant fall colors, and some of the best fishing of the year. In winter, ice fishing, snowmobiling, skiing, or a get-a-way at one of our local resorts or casinos, are great stress relievers.

Once the lakes freeze over in mid to late December, the villages start appearing on the ice. There is nothing like heading out to the fish house after a long week at work to enjoy the peace and solitude of ice fishing. Cass Lake hosts its own ice-fishing tournament every year. The Cass Lake Chamber of Commerce/Palace Casino & Hotel Winter Fishing Challenge is in its eighth year and has had an increase in participation each year. Do not miss the chance to walk away with a great prize!

No matter what time of year you plan to visit the Cass Lake area for its rich cultural and natural resources, we know you will go home with great memories. Email us at: info@casslake.com, visit us at: www.casslake.com, blog us at: casslakechamber. wordpress.com Your paradise for all seasons.
